J-Serve Pittsburgh is part of a national project, J-Serve 2007: Jewish Youth Repairing the World One Day at a Time. The goal of J-Serve is to highlight the importance of service in the Jewish community and to create service projects around which Jewish communities can mobilize across denominational and organizational lines. J-Serve is a project of Panim: The Institute for Jewish Leadership and Values, the Jewish Coalition for Service, and JEXNET: the network for experiential Jewish youth education and is held in cooperation with Youth Service America's National Youth Day of Service and Global Youth Service Day.

J-Serve is made possible by the The Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, the Joseph and Rebecca Meyerhoff Awards Committee, the Lipman Kanfer Family Foundation, and the Estelle Friedman Gervis Family Foundation. J-Serve Pittsburgh was awarded a grant from Youth Service America and a grant from J-Serve to facilitate the day's events.
